Boardoza XL-1010RGBC 16x16 Addressable RGB LED Matrix Display Breakout Board

The Boardoza 16x16 ARGB Display is a 256-pixel RGB LED matrix breakout board featuring 256 XINGLIGHT XL-1010RGBC-WS2812B-S LEDs with integrated driver circuitry. Its square 16x16 layout provides a canvas for pixel graphics, symbols, text and animated lighting patterns. With individually addressable pixels, a controller can set the color and brightness of each LED through a single data signal.

The board is suitable for embedded user interfaces, robotics indicators, IoT status displays, interactive electronics, pixel art and custom lighting effects. Rear-side DIN and DOUT connections provide data input and output for connecting the matrix to a controller or extending a compatible LED chain.

Key Features

  • 256 Individually Addressable Pixels: A 16x16 matrix for independently controlled colors and patterns.
  • Miniature RGB LEDs: 1010 packages integrate the RGB emitters and control circuitry.
  • Single-Wire Control: A single data signal controls the LED chain.
  • 24-Bit Color: 8-bit control per RGB channel, with 256 levels per channel.
  • Data Cascading: DIN receives controller data; DOUT forwards data to the next compatible matrix.
  • Rear-Side Connections: Power and data pads keep connections behind the display surface.
  • Controller Integration: Can be driven by a microcontroller capable of generating the required timing and logic levels.

Notes
### Frame Transfer Time At 800 kbps, sending 24 bits to each of 256 LEDs takes 7.68 ms. Including the 80-microsecond minimum reset interval, a frame requires at least 7.76 ms. The resulting theoretical transfer ceiling is approximately 129 frames per second, before controller overhead. This is a calculation, not a measured board refresh rate or the LED PWM frequency. ### Power Consumption The referenced LED datasheet specifies 5 mA typical per color channel. Using that value, all 256 pixels displaying full white would draw approximately 3.84 A for the RGB channels alone, equivalent to 19.2 W at 5 V, excluding control circuitry and other losses. This is a calculation, not a measured board current or a connector/PCB current rating. Confirm the board power-distribution capability before specifying a power supply.
